| Description: Plastered 'bin' against NW corner of house 2. Not F.I. as, although 2 fills were ashy, there was no sign of in-situ burning. Also intervening layer clean, smooth, clayey. The N + W sides are straight; the S + E curve to create a sub-rectangular enclosure. The W edge is against a buttress. The W + N walls are plastered. The E edge at N wall has a surviving curved 'hood' fragment not excavated by Mellaart, who got this far and no further. This suggests a partially closed 'bin' or box. The upper fill 1029 was c. 60% plaster or more, and could have been the collapsed domed roof. Other fill layers were dark and ashy (1031, 1035) or clean orange clay (1032). The base was flattish, sloping slightly from SE. |
