Discussion: This unit was assigned to a surface of Space 88. This area was cleaned and examined in detail in order to reveal outlines of walls and collapsed mudbricks that define this unit. It was cut along the W-E axis by a Byzantine grave (F.151). At the moment it seems that space 87 cut part of the western wall of Space 88, meaning that it might be later than Space 88. It is still not clear from the surface how the wall that derives Space 87 and 88 meets a double wall at the southern side. There is a possibility that quite regular rows of mudbricks with mortar, that is parallel to this double wall, represents a wall as well, that made Space 88 even smaller. Also there is a possibility that there are just bricks fallen into Space 88. The same applies to the remains of mudbricks at the northern side of this Space. Clear edges of eastern and western walls are visible in the cut of Feature 151.
The concentration of several fragmented groundstones were partly burnt. Several pieces are found in the whole area of ashy room fill of Space 88 (unit 2266). The concentration next to the northern wall was partly under collapsed plaster which was taken as a sample (#4). This room was filled, according to this information, before the northern wall collapsed. In this Space (88), the first spit consisted of fine layers of loose soil - ashy, with flecks of plaster. Underneath this in a second spit the dirt goes from grey to light brown with small plaster inclusions and ashy patches. In the first spit, however, concentrations of burnt soil were noticed to the east wall, while patches of ash were found in the whole unit. Plaster inclusions were also present, sometimes large, up to 7 cm long, but mainly medium in size. Next to the South wall a fragment of non neolithic pottery was found (X.10), very close to the surface, and highly likely connected to Feature 151. In the layer, especially to the south, patches of charcoal inclusions are present. |

Unit description: D1 is a bone point bound for the Konya Museum. LY 2001: A relatively large assemblage was recovered from unit 2266. Preservation of the bone could not have been as good as in other units as the bone is soft and the material has suffered considerably from modern breaks. Both digested and burnt bone are uncommon. Cattle are well represented in this unit and pig and equid are present in greater numbers than the other units from the BACH area that I have studied this year. Overall, the unit does not display any degree of integrity and would be typical for a midden deposit. NR 2003: Samples 2 and 3 >4mm flotation 100% sorted, recorded as diagnostics and flot frags. Sample 2 is a moderate size assemblage of mostly small fragments, although some range up to 7 cm, most are under 2 cm. The surface condition is variable but mostly rather degraded. There is some burning (high and low temperatures), and some digestion. Most is sheep-size but there is a fair amount of large mammal. The few diagnostics are sheep/goat except for a human phalanx. There is no coherence; it looks like fill. Sample 3 is quite similar.
