Discussion: Digging the area east of oven 111. The aim here is to investigate the floor succession in the SW corner of trench. The surface of 1746 was heavily disturbed but preserved a thin spread of white plaster. However, it was very difficult to dig this spread separately and it was included in the next layer. This last was variable: its Northern part was more mixed and loose, apparently disturbed, its Southern part was harder, more compact orange-brown soil, similar to stratum #11. Its top at this area resembled more to a floor. Therefore it is very likely that this surface is related to floor 116 of the W part of trench, which again was sitting on stratum #11. The level of floor assumed to be related to F. 116 is 1013.04. The other face of oven 111 shows the traces of this floor abutting the oven. Referring to unit 1720 (#4): Floor 116 equals floor 108, Floor 117 equals floor 109. |
