|Entry: || This is my first diary entry, so there is quite a bit to say. There are 10 burials found so far. 8 of them from Building 6- space 163 within the level 8. One of the burials came from the Building 18 and the other one came from House 6 which was dug during the 60’s excavations.|
Among these burials only two of them are adult, 3 neonate and 3 small babies up to 8 months.
The 8 burials are scattered in space163 with no particular orientation. Three burials in baskets came from the north-east of the space, two of them (B487 and B494) are very close to each other. The other one (B475) right against to the east wall of the Building. The preservation of the skeletons, which are found in the baskets, are very poor due to the pressure of the soil. One of the burial, which is B 464 is taken out as an intact and will be exhibited in Konya Museum in the future. The skeleton is about 8 months old and lying on a mat with 2 bracelets and two anklets attached to the body. Red ochre sprinkled over the body.
Burial 476 is located in the west of space163. A neonate skeleton has been discovered in a good condition.
Two of the burials situated approximately on top of each other and located in the centre of the space, the neonate burial, which is about 50cm higher than the burial underneath. The young adult male was in large cut. This large cut may indicate the size of the body and possibly social status of the person. The last burial, which is still continued to be excavate, is located in the north-west part of the space. The burial cut contains an adult skeleton and placed in a peculiar position which lays on its back, the legs are bent and pushed to aside, like the person was squatting. A wooden plank is covering the big part of the skeleton. Exposure of the body is continuing.Entered By: Basak Boz
