| east - west orientated wall - very badly eroded by the time we came to excavate it - much of it had already collapsed. Consisted of pale to mid greyish brown silt mortar and very pale brown silt mortar ( 4211/ 4212 / 4213 ) and a plaster ' layer ' against the north face of the wall ( 4217 ). Immediately to the north of the wall was a 'slither ' of wall material ( 4224 ) - also with plaster on the north face ( 4264 ). This appears to have been an addition or repair to wall 299 - ( can't think of any other possible interpretation for this ), but subsequently it has pulled away from the main body of the wall, leaving a gap which was then filled by very loose material ( 4114 ). |
