Funding

The work this year was funded by the British Institute of Archaeology at Ankara, The British Academy, The Newton Trust, The McDonald Institute, The National Geographic Society, and by various sponsors including Visa International (Main Sponsor for 1996), Merko (Long Term Sponsor), GlaxoWellcome and British Airways (Cosponsors), and Shell. As already noted a shelter for the excavations on the North part of the East mound has been purchased by the Turkish Friends of Çatalhöyük.
